When my oldest was young, like 3-ish, he would recite commercials like he was a paid actor. The best part of watching Bubble Guppies for him was absolutely the commercial break. He was very invested in all things advertised and of course had to share.
Kid: MOM!
Mom: yeah
Kid: We need to go where a kid can be a kid.
Mom: …….. 💭💭
Kid: YOU know, where a KID can be a KID. (cause adding inflection will undoubtedly me understand)
Mom: Yup, still don’t have any idea what you are talking about
* 5 minutes Later *
Kid: See SEE – where a kid can be a kid (Points to Chuck E Cheese commercial on tv)
Mom: Ahh. 💡 Alright.
Then there was – We need to keep our cold food cold. (Crickets) That can help us keep our cold foods cold. (Pack-It brand)
When he was about 5 (LONG before 2020), this good old outburst happened –
Did you buy that mom? (Lysol commercial)
“Yes, we have Lysol”
Ok, did you spray it everywhere? It kills germs. You should really spray it or I could catch a cold. Do we need more Clorox bleach? It makes your whites bright.
He did have a fascination for cleaning supplies for a few years after that.
The curiosity, and excitement children show for (sometimes the oddest) things is a memorable experience. How about you, got kids fascinated by any infomercial products or other things outside the norm?? Let's talk about it in the comments!
I'm drawing a blank on any good ones, at the moment, but I will add... Outside! Outside! Outside, everybody, outside! Line up, everybody! Line up! Line up! Line up!... etc.
